Launched Turtle Savers! Aug 2018While waiting for samples we developed a brand of metal straws. The idea was to help reduce plastic waste in our environment.
Sampling collection Oct 2017-2018Several rounds of sampling and testing during this time, to finalise the collection and packaging.
Vayner Media Mar 2018Invested to attend the Vayner Media Digital Deep Dive to help launch JOIUSS digitally.

Trademark & Domain Dec 2017Applied for the UK trademark for the JOIUSS brand and purchased JOIUSS.com
We have a name! September 2017JOIUSS is born. By re-arranging the first two letters of my children's names Julia, Oscar and Ischia used to create the brand name. Bringing my Nannas love for eyewear and her grandchildren together.
Designed collection Aug - Sept 2017I isolated myself to research and design all the styles in 2-D using adobe illustrator.
Idea Early 2017Listening to friends, family and customers all wanting an alternative to the bland styles on the high street. This reminded me of my Nanna wanting the flamboyant styling and glamour from the 1950s & 60s.
Range in Multiple Opticians July 2015-nowLaunched a teen Fan Frames football team-branded glasses with the largest private Opticians business in the United Kingdom.
Launched Monocle Madness™ October 2014A website dedicated to selling high quality reading Monocles. A niche retro optical device from the late 19th century.
Launched Reading123 Aug 2014An e-commerce platform selling ready to wear reading glasses.
Launched Fan Frames™ Feb 2011The first eyewear business to license and sell premier league branded prescription glasses, sunglasses and cases.

We are a small independent eyewear company based in the United Kingdom.
What is your experience?
We specialise in developing unique eyewear products and have supplied huge businesses all over the world.
Paul Gibson has a history in the eyewear industry spanning 25 years, qualified Optometrist and founder of Fan Frames Limited est. 2011.

Where did the journey begin?
It all started the day his grandad drove him to an interview at the tender age of 17 years, to Rouse Opticians on Newland Avenue in Hull, East Yorkshire.
Over the years he has assembled glasses, studied and practised dispensing spectacles, studied Optometry at Cardiff University later practising for some of the largest optician companies in the United Kingdom. Including Boots Opticians, Optical Express, Dolland & Aitcheson, Vision Express, Scrivens Opticians, Specsavers and finally Healthcall Optical.
He didn't stop there.
Seeing a huge gap in the market he then founded a company called Fan Frames in 2011.
Licensing with major premier league football clubs to develop the first team-branded prescription glasses collection for the high street.
Since developing brands, Monocle Madness™ & TURTLE SAVERS™ he has a love and passion for developing new products.
In the summer of 2017, he acted on another gut instinct.
Friends, family and customers wanted more choice in design, colour and decoration for their spectacles, and this struck a real chord with him. It reminded him of his Nana.
She longed to see the return of the flamboyant glasses styles from the 1950s and '60s.
Having developed his skills in business, quick to always incorporate the latest technology, and wanting to stay at the cutting edge of the market. He saw that we could develop a collection his nana always dreamed of, and deliver it directly to the customer online.
High quality, original boutique glasses echoing that period and deliver them at a fraction of the cost of other high street designer brands.

To ensure customers can shop online easily he also wanted to simplify shopping for glasses online.
Using his optical knowledge and with the help of local digital experts, we have created a lens selection module embedded into the website product page.
The module recommends the best quality lenses automatically for each customer based on their prescription, as if an optician is sat with them.
